What, to you, is the first sign of spring? Have you seen it yet?

Ahahahaha.
You see, we don't get spring here until we get breakup. It's sort of a...transition period. I wouldn't see spring as having arrived until leaves start budding on the trees--which generally doesn't happen until May, I guess, because I was gone May 10 through June 5 or so last year, and I missed it. No leaves when I left; full leaves when I got back.
But yeah. Before we can get to that point, we have to see most of the ice and snow melt into puddles of mud and slush, and it's just nasty. Even that wouldn't be so bad, though, because it would mean that winter is ending, finally.
Right now, as I write this, it's snowing outside. Has been for...oh, I dunno, five hours?
Fnahrr.
If you came with a warning label, what would it say?

Warning: this humanoid is prone to spontaneous outbursts of angst and extremely opinionated rants. Do not provoke if any warning signs of the above conditions occur.
Item the second: just discovered in Anthropology today that Mara, Daughter of the Nile was really historically inaccurate--i.e., Hatshepsut and whatshisname didn't hate each other, and he didn't have to stage a military coup to get power. Dang. That's really going to spoil my enjoyment of the book if I ever read it again. It was a good one, too.
Item the third: had to take The Precarious Rhetoric of Angels back to the library today. Decided to read it after liking "The Only Sober Lover" (which wasn't in this book) so much. I admit I was kind of disappointed in it, because--well, really, if you've read that poem, you've really gotten everything from the book. I still like his style, but a lot of things feel repetitive--while I understand the need to have poems thematically linked in an anthology, all of them sort of feel the same. Angels crop up a lot. Drunks and drinking even more so--there's one or both in probably 98% of the poems in this book. Lots of empty lovers. Loss. Emptiness. Things like that. All of them seem to be set in some small-town, rural setting. I wouldn't mind reading it over again, because some of the poems were really beautiful and I do like his style, but by the end I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again.
Also, the shipping predictions continue. Crossdressing!Momiji, probablygay!Ayame, and...hmm...well, all kinds of creepy, slashy things could be said about Hatori, Ayame, and Shigure (when I saw them all standing together, I have to admit thinking, "So, it's like...what...Remus, Sirius, and James, except...not"), and I'm guessing Akito gets shipped with a lot of people. Like Yuki.
Poor Yuki.
And it probably shows what a fandom dork I am that I can't help Sorting these people too. >_<
Tohru-kun's clearly a Hufflepuff. Seriously, I don't think that girl spends more than a couple seconds a day thinking about herself. Hanajima is probably a Ravenclaw, just because of her psychic thing, even though she doesn't do well in school (and she's sort of gothic and whatnot). Uo-chan has to be a Gryffindor. Reckless tomboy and all. (I love Tohru's friends--the three of them are nothing alike, and yet they all really love each other.) Shigure-san? Slytherin, I'm afraid, and not a very good one--he comes off as really easygoing and good-natured, if a bit perverted at times, but then in the 3rd volume we get a conversation between him and Hatori (who's probably another Ravenclaw) where Shigure says he has no problems hurting, using, or lying to people to get his way. And Kyo-kun, of course, is a Gryffindor all the way. Reckless, impulsive, and dumb at times, but he's got a good heart. Haven't managed to place any of the others yet, though.
Yeah, well, and I can't help thinking about the shipping that must go on in this fandom...I'm going to guess that Tohru/Kyo and Tohru/Yuki are the biggest ships, but I can see YukiKyo being absolutely huge too. Kind of a Harry/Draco thing, except this canon actually does have subtext. >_< No, I'm sure it's not a canon ship, because the actual context says it's not, but still. (I bet Hatsuharu/Yuki, Hatori/Akito, Shigure/Kyo or Shigure/Yuki or even Shigure/Kyo/Yuki, and Tohru/[insert one or both of her friends here] are pretty popular too, probably in that order. ...Ew. Seriously, just ew.)
Yeah, so, I just signed up for this, and as usual I think it's wildly confusing. That's only because I don't have enough time at the moment to try everything out, though.
And until I do a post with mini-reviews of stuff I'm reading/watching/listening to or have read/watched/listened to recently, let me just say this: a good portion of those books are required for school and I hate them, and my sister made me sit through She's the Man, which I also hated. Just so's you know.
Also, I'm thinking Vox could probably be cool and stuff, but I think it's going to kill my computer, since it froze up Firefox twice in a row and then made me restart. Kind of like Myspace, except not ugly.
